Keep Practicing To Improve Your Drawing Skills
Maybe still the best way to improve on drawing and probably the best advice that I can give you, is to just keep practicing. Yeah that's right, how cliche this might sound but it still is the best and most proven way to grow in any skill. You don't happen to be good overnight, so why not just continue practicing and maybe someday you'll wake up a better artist than what you were yesterday. Anyway, if you wouldn't then you will become stagnant and skill will not improve and I know you don't want that to happen that's why you are reading this article today.
One thing I do is to just always have a pencil on my hand, or even a pen when I have nothing to do, and just start doodling. It's actually my stress reliever. I even sometimes do it during meetings, when I get bored, oops, but I don't suggest you do that too. But my only point is that the more time you practice with your craft, the better you will be in it, that's why just continue practicing your skills and you'll even surprise yourself on how much you will improve doing this.
You May Improve By Observing Other Artists
Another effective way that you can do to improve your skills in drawing is to learn from the masters themselves or from other artists by watching and observing them on how they do it. This is a great way to learn firsthand the techniques that they use so you can apply it to your drawing. One favorite hobby of mine when we go to the mall is to watch professional artists in the portrait drawing boutiques while they are drawing their client's portraits. It's just so fun to watch them, and you can actually see their complete drawing kits and tools that you can get the idea how to use them yourself.
Another way you can actually do this at the comfort of your own home is through youtube! There are actually a lot of videos online showing artists while they are drawing portraits, that you can actually learn from them just by watching. This can really give you the idea on different artist's styles that you can apply or modify to your liking so you can improve on your own.
Invest on Books And Resources
Lastly, and probably still one of the best ways to improve is to invest on drawing books and resources. It can be the printed one or the digital one. But whatever it may be, it's one of the best resources to gain knowledge straight from the master artist's themselves. The author which is usually the professional artists themselves will not only share with you through these resources their techniques and secrets on drawing, but also guide on step by step detail the process of doing it. It's definitely worth the price that you'll pay for the knowledge you're going to get once you read the book.
Having said these things, nothing should be able to prevent you from improving your skills on drawing. And the only thing that will probably stop you is the question of how passionate are you into improving on your craft.
