The Immortals of Meluha and The Secret of The Nagas - Book Review

Amish Tripathi is the author of the Shiva Trilogy books that are a series of three novels which have become very popular in India. The first book in the series is called The Immortals of Meluha and was first published in the second half of 2010.

The Secret of the Nagas, the second part of the series, will be released in the middle of August 2011and is widely tipped to be a best-seller following its release. The third book in the series is called The Oath of the Vayuputras and will be published in 2012 as the author is currently working on the same.

The Shiva Trilogy is set in the ancient world of Meluha that was also known as the Indus Valley Civilization. It introduces us to a tribal chief known as Shiva who travels to the land of Meluha to learn that his fate is tied to the destiny of the land. This ancient world is ruled by two clans, the Suryavanshis and the Chandravanshis, who are at constant war with each other.

It is in The Immortals of Meluha, the first part in the Shiva Trilogy, that we come face to face with all the main characters in the series. It is in this first part that Shiva learns that he has a bigger part to play in the history of Meluha since he is the one chosen by the Gods to destroy all evil in the land.

It is also in this book that our hero falls in love with the Suryavanshi princess Sati and comes face to face with the mysterious warrior tribe of the Nagas who have taken sides with the evil Chandravanshis.

The Immortals of Meluha was published in 2010 and went on to become a huge rage amongst book lovers for its unique plot and the expert blending of history with mythology. What also added to the success of the book was the fact that it was marketed very smartly which led to a great buzz around the book. The cover of the book was really catchy and the author also created a small but amazing trailer film which became a viral hit online.

The Secret of the Nagas is the second book in the series and will take off from where The Immortals of Meluha ended. This book will be release in August 2011 and is expected to become a best-seller from the very first day. As of now this book is not available at book stores but can be ordered online through some online retailers.
