Out of the many thought processes that exist today, I think one of the most prevalent is that you don't appreciate something until it's no longer present. I've been through a number of storms where luxuries have been taken out, so I understand this saying well. Food is one of those items which I believe people also take for granted and don't understand how important it is. Olive oil is imperative, in my eyes, and there are many reasons why a shortage of it would be disastrous.
If one kind of oil isn't being used anymore, one has to turn to another, right? Well, unfortunately for those who enjoy olive oil, a shortage would cause people to turn to less healthful alternatives. It would be a shame, too, because the oil variety has more in the way of monounsaturated fats, which are actually better for the body than the fats you would have cited otherwise. It also goes without saying that it would put reputable companies like Unaprol in a tough spot.
It seems like my mother has never cooked with another kind of oil in a number of years and that's probably for the best. She's used canola oil in the past, up until she learned about the negative impact it can have on one's body. You want to be able to cook healthful meals and something as small as the kind of oil used can potentially have the biggest impact. You're going to want to go with the oil variety, if you're certain that there is any to be seen in the pantry.
Personally speaking, I don't know how helpful it would be for this kind of oil not to be seen anymore. It's clear that this is the kind of oil that can be used in cooking but it can also be utilized on its own. For instance, sometimes we'd have a load of bread at the dinner table and beside it would be a small container of said oil. It's one of those things that I enjoy and I don't think meals would be quite the same if they were not around.
Hopefully we never have to see something like that occur for a number of reasons. There isn't another healthful choice one can make like olive oil if they want to see meals become healthier. There's a great presence of vitamins as well and the nutrients are ones which you may not be able to find so easily with commonly utilized foods. While a drought like this is highly unlike, I would much rather not pay attention to such a thought as this.
