Campbell Hausfeld: A Very Efficient Pressure Washer for Cleaning

By Harry Thomas

If you have outdoor cleaning or maintenance to do, a pressure washer can make light work of a whole range of tasks - from washing your car or cleaning your grill for the beginning of the barbecue season, to preparing for a decorating job or getting the grime off your patio stonework after the winter.

Apart from the speed with which you can complete your cleaning jobs, pressure washers can help the environment too. Even though they deliver water at a pressure that can be 20 or more times that of a garden hose, you'll likely use less water than if you tried to use a regular hose to complete the work. Different jobs require different levels of water pressure, and it's a good idea to choose a model with a variable control to allow you to select the setting to complete the task at hand. Popular makes such as Karcher, Campbell Hausfeld, Kranzle and others offer a range of features, attachments and accessories to help consumers find the cleaning power they need.

But what kind of pressure washer should you choose - gas or electric? And what sort of PSI rating will be suitable for needs? Here are some suggestions to help you decide which type of power washer will be best for you.

Select the right PSI: In measuring the pressure performance of the washer, there are two essential metrics that are needed to be considered. These are the PSI rating (pressure in pounds per square inch) and the GPM (water flow rate in gallons per minute). If your cleaning jobs are light such as cleaning the car or cleaning your patio furniture, you can just use a 1400 PSI. If your use is frequent and your tasks are rigorous a higher Psi with 1800 is better. Pressure washers which are more powerful includes detergent tank that enables you to mix detergent with water. It is often suggested that you will select a washer which has a higher power rating than your needs so you will not run your motor on its maximum extent. Remember, the increase of PSI doesn?t give an advantage for cleaning, it may ruin the paintwork of your car or it may bring some wood splinters in your deck if the level of pressure is too much.

Choose the appropriate kind of washer: Electricity is commonly used in power washers which are used domestically. The power cord limits the manoeuvrability of the power washer, but they are usually inexpensive and quieter if operated compared to those of gas powered counterparts. However, gas pressure washers have higher deliverance of pressure and certain models are designed to operate heavy-duty tasks on hot water. But, they are more costly in fuel and it has a negative environmental impact because of their gasoline.

Choose the right features and accessories: although it may be tempting to choose the lowest price model, it may be more cost effective in the long run to choose a pressure washer with a good quality motor. A unit powered by an induction motor may cost less than one powered by a universal motor, but it may also have a longer life. Make sure that the washer you choose has a sufficiently long hose to do the jobs you need. Other features worth considering are an auto stop and start function, a pressure adjustment control and specialist lances and spray nozzles.
