Sustainable Tourism Criteria

By Kate Bass

Many resort owners and tourism industry key players do not really understand the principles of sustainable tourism planning. For many resort owners and tourism operations, as long as their business is doing well at present, that is enough for them. Unfortunately, such attitudes can be quite unprofitable in the long run. Studies show that most tourist destinations that do not meet the sustainable tourism criteria are now in danger of being overrun with tourists and may go out of business soon. With so many people flocking to a tourist destination year in and year out, the place is bound to suffer a lot of environmental damages and if the main attraction of that place is its pristine environment, the place could be in a lot of trouble in the very near future. When a place loses its allure, it can go out of business.

Keeping the tourism industry is a great challenge. Despite the fact that there is already a set of sustainable tourism criteria established by tourism authorities all over the world, not many players in the industry follow these sustainable tourism criteria. Many people cut corners when it comes to development thinking that they can get away without following the rules.

This is a specialized market that is important to learn about before you travel anywhere in the world and have the best time.In fact, many of them only pretend to follow the sustainable tourism criteria. The worst part of it is that those people who try to employ the sustainable tourism criteria do not follow these criteria religiously that it is just like as if they are not using these sustainable tourism criteria at all.

When it comes to ecotourism and sustainable tourism there are a few things in particular that are important to know.In many places around the world, communities and non-government organizations are now helping their local tourism industry become sustainable.

The involvement of the community and the private sector made it possible for some tourism areas to become more attracted to tourists. The joint efforts of the community and the private sector are especially beneficial to areas that rely on eco-tourism. With the help of the community, the eco-tourism industries in many parts of the world are now more profitable.
