Paintball Pump Conversion Kits for Autococker Paintball Guns

By Rick Halpard

Pump auto cockers have been around since nearly the beginning of paintball. WGP was the first company to release the auto cocker technology. In fact, every auto cocker that has been released has stemmed from their design. The auto cocker was extremely popular back in the later 90's to early 2000, and continues to be popular in pump form today.

You could say the movement started thanks to the overall popularity of this type marker. In 2004 paintball was rocked with the release of the Karnivor. The Karnivor was a fully electronic cocker that pushed the envelope of speed and performance. It's safe to say that many negative perceptions of this technology has since changed.

In 2005 or so, an influx of cheap autocockers hit the market. Some of which were produced by Psychoballistics, and sold for under $100. The high amount of upgrades available for them was one of the major selling points, and duly contributed to the success of these cheaper models. Demand shortly died after new markers became available and attention shifted to other types of affordable electronic markers.

With the advent of pump conversion kits for these marker owners, players can now transform their semi-auto into a full fledged pump. These kits are the saving grace for players that want to slow down their rate of fire and save some money - which is possibly why we are seeing so many players with these pump guns today.

There are of course other benefits aside saving money. These benefits stem back to the major selling point of the first pump cocker (the WGP Sniper), which is accuracy. Many players have come to learn that a pump unquestionably forces you to take time in aiming. Furthermore, combine the extra time taken for aiming with the overall consistency of a pump and you have the rudimentary elements of accuracy.

With the pump kit available, and the ever-growing demand for cheaper alternatives for paintball play, we can except to see more players making the switch to an autococker pump gun.
