Tuscan olive oil - or perhaps any type of oil like this - has definitely seen its fair share of trouble recently. I came across a story about how this type of oil has incurred a shortage, going as deep as a 60% loss since harvesting has not been seen as prevalently. It should also be mentioned that since Spain is known for its oil production, this drop is made even worse. This is an unfortunate story and it's one that hopefully has the tide turned, speaking as a fan of this oil.
I can't begin to tell you why there's a shortage on Tuscan olive oil, especially since it's a healthful component for just about anyone to utilize. I came across an article on the Huffington Post, talking about this drought and how it can impact the harvesting as well. You have to take into account companies such as Unaprol, which can talk to you about how this oil type is beneficial. There also is a proposed increase in price, which may pose a problem in the future.
It's not like the prices as they stand are not worth it since this oil can be used as a better alternative to butter, to name one example. Let's say that you set down a plate of bread; typically, families would be inclined to bring butter and spread that on. If you take that substance out of the equation and replace it with oil, you're going to see a difference. The benefits that it contains are great and while the current asking price is worth what it demands, I don't know how many people are going to support a price raise.
Hopefully we see an increase in harvesting overseas so that we can keep prices lower on oil. People want to be able to invest money in the things that they like but if prices do not match up to their budgets, not all parties are going to wind up satisfied. I am sure that there are many people who want to be able to invest money in these food items. However, with a set amount of money that is given constantly, not everyone is going to be able to reap the benefits.
This olive oil drought is one that I don't think anyone wants to be part of. It's clear that this oil is used for many purposes and the fact that it is being seen less these days is not something that I can wholeheartedly approve. I believe that people want to see this oil come about in higher numbers as well. This is the sort of story in the news that people should focus in on and hopefully voice their opinions on as well.
