Car Wraps: Where Does Smell Come Into Marketing?

When it comes to the traditional methods of marketing, it's safe to say that sight is the one sense that is focused on more than any other. Car wraps, for example, are designed to be eye-catching and the designs set in place are made to be some of the sharpest that can be imagined. That being said, what if I were to tell you that the sense of smell could be implemented in marketing? It sounds hard to believe but it seems as though this is very much rooted in reality.

JMR Graphics, along with other authorities on the matter, can tell you that sight is important when it comes to marketing in general. The Drum posted an article that spoke about a potato-scented taxi that would be put to use for the sake of advertising on the part of the company called McCain Potatoes. Car wraps, for those who do not know, are consistently utilized since they are dependable for attracting attention to a brand. However, the ide of scent in addition to sight is one that be even more engaging.

While the taxi idea itself is quite creative, you may be curious as how it will carry out the objective of marketing. The report said that it would be able to cruise around different areas, amongst them being York, London and Birmingham. People in said areas would be given free rides and during five-minute intervals, the car would emit the scent of oven baked jacket potato. This is a strong idea to consider and it is one that McCain Potatoes was able to bring to the forefront.

You want to be able to go about marketing in the best of ways and being able to incorporate something unique can help tremendously. The reason that I say this is because scents, in general, are easily some of the most potent and not just in the way that one might assume. It's clear that marketing in general has to breed results. Seeing as how McCain Potatoes was able to create a system that deviates from the norm, I'm sure that said results will surface.

When I look at this idea, I cannot help but direct my attention to the way that the Chocolate World Tour ride in Hersheypark was structured. Those who have never been on this particular attraction should know that while the monorail-like tour was conducted, the scent of chocolate being made cold be picked up on. It's an immersive technique, which is why I feel as though McCain Potatoes deserves recognition. It's a remarkable way to incorporate more than just the traditional sense of sight to build awareness.
