X Factor Favourite Can't Forget Dead Brother

By Johnson Brierley

It has been revealed that Jahmene Douglas - many people's favourite to win this year's X-factor competition - is still in mourning over the trajic death of his older brother Daniel, who died three years ago, aged just 23 years old.

An insider close to the family told Heat magazine of how difficult the X-factor experience had been for him without his older brother there to support him. "It's still very sensitive for him and right now all he wants to do is focus on his music and the competition. His family life is complex and he doesn't have contact with his father."

He has had a very difficult family life for a number of reasons, not least because his father is currently incarcerated and serving a fifteen year jail sentence for the brutal GBH and rape of his mother Mandy Thomas at their Bath family home back in 2003, when Jahmene was just 11 years old.

Jahmene's mother and father had been together for 18 years before the attack took place, but a friend of the family revealed that: "He terrorised the family; his dad was a nasty piece of work. It's no surprise that he has confidence issues".

Jahmene and his family have gone through a lot by anyone's standards, but the bond between his mother, his two younger brothers, his younger sister and himself has never been better. He told the sun that: "Our struggles are what make us stronger, and I hope I can become an inspiration to those still suffering".

Jahmene is a devout Christian who has found strength in his Christian faith to help get him through the difficult times. Heat magazine was told that: "His faith is incredibly important to him. Losing his brother was a huge reason for why he turned to religion.

Jahmene has certainly come a long way since he was crowned 'Swindon's Got Talent' winner back in 2010, an accolade which saw him lend his vocals to a charity song by Reach Inclsive Arts, designed to help involve more disabled people in creative and cultural activities.

Ever since Jahmene's first audition on the hit TV show, his performances have captured the hearts and minds of the viewing public and he is now one of the hot favourites to win the competition. But whatever happens, his courage and strength in overcoming the hurdles that he has faced in his life are nothing short of miraculous and must surely serve as an inspiration to others who have also gone through hardships, that when you put your mind to it, anything really is possible.
